Every Christian should relish the challenge of developing God's leadership team for His church as described in the Bible. Each congregation of the Lord's church should set a goal to mature Godly men who will serve in God's ordained leadership roles. That same goal should include a maturing of the church to have submissive hearts to God's will regarding the roles of these qualified men. For men to willingly lead as described by God, the members of the local body must willingly follow with the same eagerness.
Godly men serving together in scriptural harmony and unity is a blessing to the Lord's church in any generation. Sadly, Many congregations of the Lord's church never fully understand the benefits of a full contingent of leaders. Many churches do not mature to a level of submission to the Lord and accept Godly men in the role of Shepherds and Deacons. Some have succumbed to the denominational model of a single "pastor" controlled leadership. God expects better of His church than to accept less than Biblical leadership! The church would be well advised to remember the words of Jesus "If the blind lead the blind, BOTH will fall into the ditch!"
We are blessed, at the Magnolia church of Christ, with Godly men who value the wisdom of God regarding leadership. Men who have dedicated themselves to secure the qualities the Bible clearly identifies as necessary to guide and build the church. Those qualities are not a "leadership style", but a character development that when coupled with a submission to the will of God produces God's leadership style. We give God the glory for providing His leadership team and for the work of ministry accomplished by them.
